About Ms. Casey
Hi! My name is Shannan Casey and I am excited to be teaching Dual Language Kindergarten for my third year here at PSE!
A little about my educational journey: I am an Austin native. I was born in Seton Hospital and attended Spicewood Elementary, Canyon Vista Middle School, Westwood High School, and the University of Texas. GO HORNS! Before teaching in Public School, I had the opportunity to teach English in Morelia, Michoacán, México. When I returned to the United States of America, I pioneered the Spanish program for a local private school while finishing my Bachelor's Degree in Spanish with a minor in Hispanic Relations. After interning at the Mexican Consulate here in Austin, I began my career in RRISD as a kindergarten teacher. I am certified bilingual in Early Childhood- 4th grade Generalist and in Special Education. I spent 3 years in AISD as a Bilingual Special Education Department Chair and Kindergarten teacher before returning to RRISD. Most recently I have completed my National Board Certification for ages 3- early adulthood in Exceptional Needs.
A little about my family: I have 3 children, ages 5, 7, and 18. My 5 year old's name is Casey and he loves cars and trains. My 7 year old's name is Clover and she loves gymnastics, piano, and dance. My 18 year old's name is Kavan and will be attending college this year! As a family we enjoy camping, going to the beach, and spending time together.
I love Purple Sage and I feel blessed to be part of such a wonderful school and community. Go Riders!
